DAYS SUBLIME

if we could go back in time
back to days
life so sublime
bicycles and ice cream cones
our mothers voices
calling us home.
endless hours spent
in the sun
dolls and hopscotch
toy soldiers anyone?
not a care in the world
just little boys
and little girls.
if we could go back in time
when we were happy
with a nickel
or with a dime.
but alas
time marches on
now we are the voices
